I am the oldest of three, all of us girls. It used to irritate me as a child when people used to say: “one more beautiful than the other” and then never talked about who was more beautiful.
With growing up I have slowly been able to let go of that competition, finding true beauty in all of us.
Last year there was a particularly beautiful moment: after not having been in contact with one of my sisters for nearly 20 years, we all met, the reason being, my fathers passing.
It was a very surreal meeting at first and my heart was beating much too fast. I felt like I was in a dream within dreams.
But after some time and many teas there was a distinct and deeply touching moment: we are still sisters, bound through blood, but much more bound through a deep connection which is never ending, even if we would never ever see each other again.
